Summary: The California Supervising Adjuster (SA) is responsible for prompt and thorough review and coverage evaluation of residential property claims.
This position includes responsibilities such as managing task assignments, communicating with Insureds and/or their representatives, providing an exceptional customer experience to our external and internal customers, rendering coverage determinations, providing clear and concise directives to the Field estimators for damage repair estimates in a professional and timely manner.
This role works closely with all other departments to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty.
The California SA is responsible for investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and resolving first-party residential property claims and/or California liability claims in accordance with California insurance regulations, policy provisions, and company claims handling guidelines.
This role primarily handles Homeowners property losses including fire, water, wind, smoke, and other covered perils.
The SA works closely with field adjusters, independent adjusters, vendors, and policyholders to ensure prompt and compliant claim resolution.
The position may also assist with claims involving third-party liability exposures such as premises liability and/or property damage.
Essential Functions: Work with all members of the claim team to provide an exceptional customer experience to our external and internal customers.
Review first notice of loss, request vendor assignments as needed, assign tasks and provide direction for future items to be completed.
Ensure all claims handling is done in a timely manner and is in adherence with California statutory/compliance regulations regarding contacts, inspections, acknowledgement of correspondence and status reports.
Respond to inquiries from the field adjusters and IA firm management to identify the cause of loss and address all coverage questions.
Review investigation Information and reports to render coverage determinations in accordance with the applicable policy and endorsements.
Timely identification, analysis and resolution of coverage issues arising in claims investigation.
Review investigative claim file documentation and collaborate with Field Estimators to create timely and accurate damage repair estimates in Xactimate.
Maintain proper file documentation reflecting progression of the claim adjustment.
Responsible for maintaining and updating reserves per FPI/EDI best practices and California claims handling guidelines.
Responsible for generating Coverage Determination Letters and Payments, when applicable, citing accurate policy language to support the coverage determination rendered to conclude the claim.
Ability to work extended hours in the event of a Catastrophe (CAT).
Qualifications Required
Education and
Experience: High School diploma required. 5 years of California property claims adjustment experience or similar experience required.
Knowledge of Property insurance policy and coverage analysis.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills Must be self-motivated and able to work under deadlines.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred
Qualifications: Bachelors degree preferred.
Experience with California Liability claims handling Xactimate Level 1 certification. 5+ Years experience providing customer service for California homeowner's insurance and/or liability claims.
Proficient in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
