High winds brought down power lines and trees, damaged homes and cars, and fanned the flames of brush fires Thursday. In Billerica, a tree came down on a house and vehicle on Gov. Peabody Road, police said.
The tree crashed through the home and into a bedroom where a teenage girl was sleeping.
"It was very scary," said Alayna Harvey. "I was sleeping and then I heard this big bang. The pictures in my room fell and I thought that was the bang, but it was the branch coming through the ceiling."
