Microbursts Hit Northern Arizona and Phoenix Metro Areas
Monday, September 29th, 2014 Auto PropertyA new round of storms swept northern Arizona and metropolitan Phoenix on Saturday. The skies above downtown Phoenix were completely gray by the early afternoon as strong winds and a cascade of rain hit the region. The storm forced authorities to close a section of Interstate 17 for more than hour because of flooding. Flight departures and landings resumed about 3:30 p.m. after they were halted for an hour at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. A window at Terminal 4 was broken by strong gusts of wind during the storm.
