Cincinnati fire crews responded to a small fire inside the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden Monday. It happened around 5:30 p.m. at the Safari Grill, according to a zoo spokesperson. The zoo was already closed at the time of the fire. Fire officials said a food smoker was on fire and the smoker was in close proximity to the structure. It took crews approximately 15 minutes to bring the fire under control. No injuries were reported and the fire was quickly contained, officials said.
Fire crews continue to remain on the scene to put out spots, to conduct overhaul operations, and to assist the fire investigator.
