A man suspected of starting an apartment fire that killed five and injured four Wednesday on Detroit’s east side was arrested, authorities said. The fire, reported at about 1:30 p.m. on the 10500 block of Whittier, ripped through the building as high winds fanned the flames. Deputy Detroit Fire Commissioner David Fornell wasn’t immediately able to confirm what charges the suspect could face, but he said the man had outstanding warrants. The man was arrested less than 12 hours after the fire started. "We believe he may have had an argument with the landlord," Fornell said. Investigators confirmed Wednesday that the fire was arson, he said.
