Alabama Attorney General Bill Pryor announced the arrest this spring of a Baldwin County woman, who last week answered charges of worker‘s compensation fraud by waiving arraignment and pleading not guilty. Cynthia McLain, of Seminole, will face trial in Baldwin County Circuit Court. A trial date is not yet set.
Assistant Attorney General Verne Speirs presented evidence to a Baldwin County grand jury that returned a two-count indictment against McLain. The indictment deals with worker‘s compensation claims that McLain submitted after she reported that her leg was injured while she was working as a kitchen helper for the Jr. Food Mart in Robertsdale.
McLain faces trial on a charge that she made false statements to obtain worker‘s compensation benefits and a charge of first-degree theft of property in the amount of $1,700. The theft charge is a class B felony, punishable by two to 20 years imprisonment and a fine of up to $10,000.
