Ali’s arctic blast

Call it Ali’s Winter Wonderland. The blizzard named after Grand Forks’ playground queen generated drifting snow, whistling winds, near-zero visibilities and bone-chilling cold Sunday as it blasted the Dakotas and Minnesota. In the region, stores closed early or did not open at all. Interstate 29 closed, and authorities advised drivers to stay off many local roads and highways.
