84-Year-Old Alerts All Residents Of Burning Apartment Building

Friday, July 17th, 2015 Property

Early morning prayer might have saved Carmen Rodriguez and her neighbors from harm when fire broke out in the 84-year-old woman’s Jacksonville apartment building and she was awake to alert the others. Rodriguez was having trouble sleeping, her daughter Sol Maria Cabrera said later Wednesday morning as the two sat in the younger woman’s car at the entrance to the Westgate apartment complex off 103rd Street. “She likes to pray when she isn’t able to sleep, so she was praying,” Cabrera said. “It was meant for her to be up. … The ceiling fell on her bed.”
