More than 200 Los Angeles City and County firefighters worked today to put out a fire at a commercial building in an
unincorporated area abutting South Los Angeles and stop it from spreading to adjoining structures. The three-alarm fire was reported in the 5800 block of South Hooper Avenue at 1:03 a.m., Los Angeles County Fire Department Inspector David Dantic said. After two and a half hours, the 250 city and county firefighters were starting to get a grip on the blaze, which had affected 11 adjoining buildings, Dantic said, adding that most of the buildings appeared to be used for storage.
