According to The National Insurance Crime Bureau, California has once again set the pace for auto theft for the calendar year of 2004. Seven of the nation’s top areas with the highest vehicle theft rates are in California with the communities of Las Vegas, Nevada, Phoenix, Arizona, and Seattle Washington finishing out the top 10. The information is determined by the number of vehicle theft offenses per 100,000 inhabitants using Census 2000 population figures.
