Tuesday, December 4th, 2007 — A landlord who owns hundreds of properties in Cedar Rapids has been charged by the U.S. attorneys office with swindling an insurance company and cheating his renters out of their damage deposits. Robert K. Miell, 53, of Cedar Rapids, was charged in federal court in Cedar Rapids with 19 counts of mail fraud. Each count carries up to 20 years in prison and he could be fined nearly $5 million.
