High winds around most of Southern California have died down Tuesday, but not before shutting down a main highway, toppling trees and knocking out power. A crew in Valley Village used chainsaws Tuesday morning to clear tree branches that disrupted traffic after falling onto the street. On Monday, a giant dust cloud hovered over Highway 14. The CHP shut down the highway in both directions from Lancaster into Kern County due to low visibility.
