Conn. Police Officer Run Over By Stolen Car

A city police officer was seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident on Wilcox Street Sunday night, police said. Shortly after 8 p.m. police responded to the area of North Street and Willow Street on the report of a stolen car, Police Chief Jim Wardwell said in a statement. About a half hour later, an officer located the car in a yard at 56 Wilcox St. and approached the vehicle. Wardwell said as the officer moved toward the car he was struck, run over and dragged down a driveway and into the street.
