All charges against a New Freedom couple for allegedly exaggerating damage claims from a vandalism incident and filing false receipts to collect more than $10,000 in insurance have been moved to Adams County court. Both Thomas E. Varish, 48, and his girlfriend and secretary, Merry Miller, 26, of 800 Bullfrog Road, are charged with unsworn falsification to authorities, tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, tampering with public records or information, insurance fraud, theft by deception and criminal conspiracy.
