A Syracuse family was displaced Monday morning after a fire apparently started by discarded fireworks caused $100,000 damage to their residence. There were no injuries, Syracuse firefighters said. The family set off fireworks Sunday night outside their home and had placed the discarded fireworks into a trash receptacle, according to Syracuse Fire Chief Eric Froerer. Fireworks that had not been fully extinguished apparently ignited a fire shortly before 8 a.m. that ran up the side of the residence near 2800 East and 2100 South and into the attic. The fire caused about $100,000 in damage, Froerer said.
