An estimated 70 homes in Horry County have been destroyed by fire overnight, authorities said.
Forty of those homes were located off Watertower Road in the Carolina Forest community, according to Scott Hawkins, spokesman for S.C. Forestry Commission. Thirty homes in North Myrtle Beach also were destroyed, according to Todd Cartner, spokesman for Horry County Fire Rescue.The homes were located in the Barefoot Resort, which is located behind Barefoot Landing.
