Tornadoes and violent thunderstorms that tore through the South and Midwest late Sunday and early Monday killed at least 34 people and left untold property damage.
Claims adjusters are assessing damage in several states from the storms that ripped apart homes and businesses and were responsible for hundreds of injuries. Among the hardest-hit areas were parts of rural Tennessee near Knoxville and communities northwest of Birmingham, Ala. The northwest corner of Ohio also suffered heavy damage.
Many businesses were closed for Veterans Day, but adjusters were beginning to get reports of commercial damage.
"We‘ve already got several from Columbus, Miss., and Jasper, Ala.," said Clay Humphries, Nashville, Tenn.-based assistant vp with GAB Robins North America Inc.
