Fire Destroys High School Cafeteria
Thursday, April 2nd, 2015 PropertyFire companies from around the Willamette Valley rushed to help put out a fire at South Albany High School Wednesday morning. The fire started around 3:30 a.m. in the cafeteria. Firefighters said the fire was contained to that building, but was burning out of control. No other buildings were in danger, but firefighters were in defensive mode and spraying water on nearby buildings. Because of a lack of resources, firefighters called for help from neighboring agencies. 15 crews were on scene fighting the fire, including crews from Philomath, Lebanon and Corvallis. Nobody was in the building at the time the fire started.
