Fire, explosion demolishes Pelzer home

Monday, February 20th, 2012 Property

A family is without a place to stay after a fire and explosion at a home in Pelzer. The fire chief there says there was an initial report of a fire on Daventon Road just after 7:30 p.m. Saturday night. The chief tells us the fire spread to a nearby oxygen tank, which then exploded, sending a fireball into the sky and engulfing the home in flames. There were no injuries and one was at home at the time. Authorities tell us the couple living at the home were vacationing out of state when the fire happened.
