Firefighter attacked by dog while battling blaze at Westmoreland County home

A firefighter in Westmoreland County not only had to battle flames Sunday night, but also fight off a neighbor’s dog. Officials said the fire started just before midnight on Tippecanoe Road in Hempfield Township. Authorities said the fire was contained to the attic of the home and no one was hurt. The firefighters said he suffered a few dog bites and is expected to be OK. There was no word on if the dog’s owner will face any charges.
