Under sunny skies and with no rain on the horizon, workers labored Wed-nesday on a major runoff diversion project that could end serious flooding in Lahaina town and reduce the amount of sediment washed offshore during storms. Work is under way on the first phase of the project, a large concrete culvert and runoff outlet near the popular "Guardrails" surf spot.
