Flooding in Colorado kills 2
Thursday, September 12th, 2013 Auto PropertyMore than half a foot of rain deluged Boulder County, Colorado, overnight, setting off rock slides, putting dams at risk and killing at least two people. One person died after being trapped in a collapsed building, Boulder County spokeswoman Gabbie Boerkircher said. The circumstances surrounding the other death werent clear early Thursday, but the Colorado Springs Fire Department said on Twitter that the body had been recovered by a "heavy rescue team." Numerous buildings collapsed as a result of the enormous rainfall -- around 7 inches in Boulder, according to CNN meteorologists. The exact number of homes damaged was unknown as a rock slide in the area was hampering rescue operations. In Lyons, Colorado, water was flowing over the tops of five dams, Boerkircher said. The dams hadnt broken, but officials were monitoring them very closely, she said.
