Heavy rain, flooding closes roads in fire-ravaged Colorado

Flash floods caused mudslides and submerged basements across Larimer County, Colo., on Saturday as heavy afternoon rains pummeled areas that were bone-dry a few days earlier. People waded through waist-deep water Saturday evening in Wellington, Colo., where firefighters worked to pump flooded basements -- one of which was filled 8 feet to the top step with brown, murky water. In a neighborhood west of Horsetooth Reservoir, water created a debris dam in a drainage area, backing up and into a nearby garage, basement and crawlspace, said Poudre Fire Authority Capt. Patrick Love.
