Iowa Woman Who Faked Home Invasions Charged With Insurance Fraud

An Asbury, Iowa, woman accused of lying about two home invasions has accepted a plea deal. Stephanie A. Settle, 58, on Monday pleaded guilty to charges of filing a false report and insurance fraud by presenting false information. Iowa District Court Judge Thomas Bitter set sentencing for Feb. 8. According to court documents, authorities responded to Settle’s home Jan. 14 after receiving a report of a burglary. Settle said a man attacked her with a knife and stole about $15,000 worth of jewelry and other items.
