Emergency crews said a man died after falling off a roof at a construction site in northeast Charlotte on Wednesday morning. The incident happened on Claude Freeman Drive just after 8 a.m. at the Pike Energy Solutions building, according to emergency crews. Simon Roofing and Sheet Metal Corporation were working on the building, which is three stories high. A garbage chute that was on top of the building connecting to a dumpster somehow fell, and the man fell with it, landing into the dumpster.
