As more New Mexicans feel the pinch of economic hardship, insurance fraud-related crimes are on the increase, prompting investigators with the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission's Insurance Fraud Bureau (IFB) to investigate suspected fraud. As of July 2010, IFB had closed 373 of the 523 new cases it opened since January.
