On the run, Calif. woman gets 20 years for disability and fake theft scams
Tuesday, June 25th, 2013 Fraud Life & HealthA former Encinitas resident on the run since being convicted of a $600,000 insurance fraud was not in court Friday when a judge sentenced her to 20 years and four months in state prison. Superior Court Judge Howard Shore also ordered Wanda Lee Ann Podgurski, 60, to pay more than $1 million in fines and restitution. A warrant was issued in January for Podgurski’s arrest when she failed to appear in court to hear her jury verdicts. She had remained out of jail on $500,000 bail during her trial.
