An over-height truck struck the ceiling of the Sumner Tunnel at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday. State Police say the massive tractor trailer struck the ceiling of one of the exit tunnels coming out of the Sumner Tunnel. State inspectors say there was no damage to the tunnel, but a lane had to be closed down while air was let out of the tires so the truck could be lowered and moved out. There was another tunnel mishap last week when a large truck struck a lane signal under the ceiling of the Tip ONeil tunnel; traffic was backed up while crews made repairs.
