Overnight Apartment Fire on Detroit’s West Side
Thursday, October 9th, 2014 PropertyTwo people are in critical condition after an apartment fire on Detroit’s west side. The fire broke out around 1:30 a.m. Thursday at a six-unit apartment on Oakman near I-94. Three families were inside, including a father, his wife and three children. The father, Don Allen, was able to help the wife and two children out. When the father went back in to rescue his 10-year-old stepson, Johnnie Adams, the smoke increased and the two could not make it out of the building.
