Thursday, April 28th, 2005 — A new bill that is being presented by Senator Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania has many fearing that it will restrict the information the National Weather Service can give to the public. The proposed bill states that the National Weather Service would only be allowed to offer particular services to the public if they are not offered by the private sector. The purpose of the bill is to protect the 14 private weather service companies that are located in Pennsylvania, as well as media outlets such as the Associated Press.
