The science of damage restoration is on the move. Items ranging from commonplace clothing and furnishings to exotic Persian rugs and Italian marble, once customarily discarded following a loss, are frequently fully restorable using a broad new range of restoration tools and processes.
Thanks are due, in large part, to the efforts of the National Institute of Disaster Restoration (NIDR), a not-for-profit trade association, and its long list of associates and supporters. The NIDR presentation, "Nothing but Contents," held June 25-26 in Denver, systematically demonstrated the effectiveness and practicality of contents restoration versus unnecessary and costly replacement.
