Severe Storms Leave Tree Damage In Metro Atlanta

Wednesday, March 22nd, 2017 Property

Cleanup efforts are underway, thousands are without power and some schools are pushing back start times after deadly storms ripped through North Georgia overnight. About 33,250 of the 174,000 Georgia Power customers affected by Tuesday’s damaging winds, lightning, hail and heavy downpours are without power. The utility is moving in crews from other parts of the state to restore power to those still in the dark. Dalton, Dawson, Lumpkin and Whitfield public schools were on two-hour delays, and Pickens is closed due to downed trees and power outages, according to the school systems.
