SpaceX’s Starship Launch Goes Boom

Well, it looks like SpaceX’s Starship had a bit of a rough day. You know that feeling when you’re super excited for a big trip and then your car explodes just a few minutes after leaving the driveway? Yeah, that’s pretty much what happened here.

Images revealed that not all of the 33 engines were firing on all cylinders as the rocket blasted off. The rocket started to spin out of control, then exploded and disintegrated, sending it plummeting down into the Gulf of Mexico like a really expensive piece of space junk.

It’s a good thing there wasn’t any cargo or crew on board, otherwise it would have been a real bummer of a day for Elon Musk and his crew.

Elon Musk, the mastermind behind SpaceX, took it all in stride and tweeted that they had "learned a lot" for their next launch. Who among us hasn’t had a few setbacks on the way to conquering the galaxy, right?

"With a test like this, success comes from what we learn, and today’s test will help us improve Starship’s reliability as SpaceX seeks to make life multi-planetary," SpaceX said on Twitter.

Despite the launch failure, SpaceX is still aiming high, with plans to send the Starship on a trip around the world. Sure, it may have crashed into the Gulf of Mexico this time, but next time they’ll shoot for the stars... or at least the Pacific ocean near Hawaii.
