Storm causes power outages, floods
Friday, December 9th, 2011 PropertyAn overnight storm that hit the Northeast has caused heavy flooding and power outages across Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts. Many areas were greatly affected by the rain and fierce winds that occurred Wednesday night into early Thursday morning. At its peak, roughly 2,600 residents of Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts experienced a loss of power due to the storm. There are just under 500 customers still in the dark, according to National Grid. A high wind advisory was put in place for both inland and the coast, with inland gusts reaching 50 mph and some on the coast blowing over 60 mph.
