Storms sweep North Georgia
Thursday, February 19th, 2009 Auto PropertyA line of powerful storms moved through northwest Georgia on Wednesday evening, bringing high winds, heavy rains, hail the size of golf balls and a series of tornado warnings. Electrical power was disrupted, leaving thousands of people in the dark. A tornado warning based on Doppler radar was issued shortly after 10 p.m. for southeast Butts, southern Jasper, northern Jones, northern Monroe and southwest Putnam counties in central Georgia. The warning expired at 10:45 p.m.
