Thunderstorms, strong winds batter Iowa

Heavy rain flooded parts of eastern Iowa on Wednesday, accompanied by strong winds that flattened corn fields and damaged trees and power lines. The severe weather covered much of the region, with most flooding occurring near Dubuque in the towns of Marquette and McGregor. Most roads in the area were closed due to high water and debris after receiving about 9.4 inches of rain, according to the National Weather Service.
