Lightning sparked a house fire in Volusia County for the second time in four days. The Edgewater family made it out of the home safely, but the house is a complete loss.
A family, including eight children, was inside the home on Azalea Drive when a lightning bolt struck the home just before 3 p.m.
Homeowner Kathleen Bushong stepped outside to see if lightning struck a transformer on the street only to turn around to see smoke coming from her roof.
"I walked into the house and there was smoke coming out of my florescent light in the kitchen, so I had to get all the children out of the house," Bushong said.
Investigators determined the lightning bolt ran through all the homes wiring.
