Train, 18-wheeler collide in Gaffney, S.C.
Wednesday, May 14th, 2014 AutoDrivers should expect delays near downtown Gaffney Wednesday morning after a freight train and a tractor-trailer collided. The accident happened at the train crossing that runs parallel to Granard Street at East Rutherford Avenue about 6:30 a.m. Authorities at the scene said the CR England Global Transportation tractor-trailer is a refrigerated truck, so crews are concerned the diesel could leak and are waiting on a wrecker to arrive. Gaffney Fire Chief Jamie Caggiano said the grade of the railroad tracks at the crossing is particularly high while the trucks landing gear was a little low, causing it to get struck on the tracks.
