As Kansas City parks officials prepare for a new fountain season, they’re dealing with theft and damage to two of the city’s most prominent fountains. Thieves have stolen $25,000 worth of lights from the JC Nichols Memorial Fountain on the Plaza and from the Women’s Leadership Fountain at 9th Street and The Paseo. They also caused about $60,000 worth of damage to the concrete at the Women’s Leadership Fountain, the city’s oldest fountain, which was renovated in 2009.
