A strong band of thunderstorms swept across North Carolina on Tuesday, triggering a series of tornado warnings amid reports of possible twisters in several counties from Wake eastward.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or official reports of widespread damage, but several residents in northeast Johnston County, just east of Zebulon, reported funnel-shape clouds and tornadolike destruction.
