Winds rip off iconic burger from Big Boy statue

Friday, October 21st, 2011 Property

The Big Boy restaurant at 6301 Dixie Highway in Bridgeport lost an important part of its iconic statue after strong gusting winds Wednesday. The chain is best known for its trademark chubby boy in red-and-white-checked overalls holding a Big Boy sandwich. Restaurant officials say no one was injured when the burger flew off and rolled across Dixie Highway. The restaurant was able to recover the missing burger. The burger is a bit heavier than one might think, and it wasn’t seriously damaged. They say they hope to fix the outside statue as soon as possible.
