A tornado watch remains in effect for the warned area. Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. Prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds. People outside should move to a shelter, inside a strong building and away from windows. This is a dangerous storm. Prepare immediately for large destructive hail capable of producing significant damage. People outside should move to a shelter, inside a strong building and away from windows. Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature`s leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to localized flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 445 PM CDT FOR NORTHWESTERN COMANCHE...SOUTHWESTERN CADDO AND EAST CENTRAL KIOWA COUNTIES... At 415 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Meers, moving east at 40 mph. Another severe thunderstorm was located near Cooperton, also moving east at 40 mph. THIS IS A DESTRUCTIVE STORM FOR COOPERTON, MEERS, AND MEDICINE PARK. HAZARD...Baseball size hail and 70 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be severely injured. Expect shattered windows, extensive damage to roofs, siding, and vehicles. Locations impacted include... Medicine Park, Cooperton, Meers, Lake Lawtonka, Boone, Fort Sill, and Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge.
