Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 130 AM CDT MONDAY... * WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of western Kentucky, including the following counties, Calloway, Graves and Marshall. * WHEN...Until 130 AM CDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Overflowing poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1029 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Murray, Mayfield, Benton, Lynnville, Sedalia, Wingo, Hardin, Hazel, Water Valley, Kirksey, Harris Grove, Brewers, New Concord and Aurora. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
