to take action should flooding develop.
FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THURSDAY AFTERNOON...
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.
* WHERE...Portions of North Carolina and southwest Virginia,
including the following areas, in North Carolina, Alleghany NC,
Ashe, Stokes, Surry, Watauga, Wilkes and Yadkin. In southwest
Virginia, Carroll, Floyd, Grayson and Patrick.
* WHEN...Through Thursday afternoon.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. In addition,
saturated soils and some gusty winds could down a few trees.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- 3 to 6 inches of rain with locally higher amounts are
expected, especially along and just east of the southern Blue
Ridge.
