FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THURSDAY AFTERNOON...
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.
* WHERE...Portions of North Carolina and southwest Virginia,
including the following areas, in North Carolina, Alleghany NC,
Ashe, Stokes, Surry, Watauga, Wilkes and Yadkin. In southwest
Virginia, Carroll, Floyd, Grayson and Patrick.
* WHEN...Through Thursday afternoon.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Sudden rises may occur with little or no warning.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Two to Five inches of rain has already fallen along parts of
the southern Blue Ridge between Roanoke, Virginia, and the
High Country of North Carolina. Additional rainfall of 2 to 4
inches is expected, with locally higher amounts. Rain totals
up to 8 inches are possible along the Blue Ridge Escarpment.
