FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE SATURDAY NIGHT...
* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.
* WHERE...Portions of northeast North Carolina, including the
following areas, Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Eastern Currituck, Gates,
Hertford, Pasquotank, Perquimans and Western Currituck. Portions
of Virginia, including the following areas, Chesapeake,
Gloucester, Hampton/Poquoson, Isle of Wight, James City, Mathews,
Newport News, Norfolk/Portsmouth, Northampton, Southampton,
Suffolk, Surry, Virginia Beach and York.
* WHEN...Through late Saturday night.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Heavy rain is expected over northeastern North Carolina and
southeastern Virginia overnight through early Sunday, as
Tropical Storm Ophelia moves towards the area. Rainfall
amounts of 3 to 6 inches are expected with locally higher
amounts possible.
