Everyone should remain out of the water due to life-threatening
surf conditions. Stay off of jetties, piers, and other waterside
infrastructure.
CORRECTED TO ADD COASTAL INUNDATION
...HIGH SURF WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM CHST WEDNESDAY...
* WHAT...Dangerously large breaking waves of 15 to 20 feet in the
surf zone. Coastal inundation 5 to 7 feet.
* WHERE...East, south and west facing reefs of Tinian and Saipan.
* WHEN...Until 8 PM ChST Wednesday.
* IMPACTS...Breaking waves can sweep people off jetties and
docks, and into dangerous seas. Life-threatening swimming
conditions and significant beach erosion can be expected.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Dangerous surf is expected across the
region the rest of tonight and Wednesday. Surf will increase along
north facing reefs tonight and may become hazardous as Typhoon
Bolaven moves further away to the northwest. This will also cause
surf to decrease along east facing reefs.
