Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Flooding is occurring or is imminent. Most flood related deaths occur in automobiles. Do not attempt to cross water covered bridges, dips, or low water crossings. Never try to cross a flowing stream, even a small one, on foot. To escape rising water find another route over higher ground. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. The National Weather Service in Newport/Morehead City NC has issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers in North Carolina... Neuse River At Kinston affecting Jones and Lenoir Counties. For the Neuse River...including Kinston...Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Neuse River at Kinston. * WHEN...From Friday afternoon until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 21.0 feet, Some homes and businesses southeast of Kinston are flooded. Water floods several secondary roads southeast of Kinston as well as Highway 11. Small streams across Lenoir, southern Pitt and northern Craven Counties flood secondary roads and may affect some homes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 9:15 AM EDT Thursday the stage was 11.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage tomorrow afternoon and continue rising to 19.7 feet Tuesday morning.
