ACCUMULATING SNOW FOLLOWED BY RAIN FOR NORTHERN SE AK...
.Heavy snow showers embedded within a system moving across SE AK
are bringing periods of heavy snow to the Icy Strait Corridor
northward. Precipitation will remain as snow through the morning
hours before changing over to snow through the afternoon, though
snow could hold on longer for areas north of the Icy Strait
Corridor (Haines) before a changeover to rain occurs.
* WHAT...Wet snow. Additional snow accumulations of to one inch of
heavy wet snow.
* WHERE...Glacier Bay and City and Borough of Juneau.
* WHEN...Until noon AKST today.
* IMPACTS...Ground, marine and air travel may be difficult. Plan
on slippery conditions.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Around 4 to 6 inches has already
accumulated in the back valley of Juneau and in the Gustavus to
Bartlett Cove around the area since midnight. The snow is
expected to start to transition to rain around midday. In the
Juneau area rain mixed in first for the downtown area and
working north towards the airport and out the road.
