About the Position

Glatfelter Insurance Group is seeking an experienced Applications Manager, in our IT Corporate Applications department. In this role you will be responsible for planning and coordinating the provision of applications and system necessary for business operations in accordance with I.T. strategic plan. You will be accountable for the continued maintenance of such systems to improve efficiencies. This role will cultivate and encourage innovative thought and problem solving with best practices and service-orientation among team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define, direct and monitor resource allocation across multiple projects, provide technical and administrative supervision.
  • Manage and provide direction for the application team(s) in support of business operations.
  • Review and analyze existing applications effectiveness and efficiency, and develop strategies for improving or leveraging these systems.
  • Provide business and technical consultation to other I.T. staff and the broader systems user community.
  • Research and make recommendations on software products and technologies in support of procurement and/or development efforts.
  • Contribute to the development and adoption of departmental best practices.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and a professional demeanor in the performance of duties.
  • Prepare and document application specifications, diagrams and flowcharts as necessary.
  • Maintain and encourage a secure systems environment.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of I.T. work experience, including at least 5 years direct experience managing team(s) responsible for applications and/or systems management.
  • Proven experience in overseeing the direction, development, and implementation of software solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of system and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies.
  • Good project management skills and/or substantial exposure to project-based work structures.
  • Strong understanding of customer service principles.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to communicate with a wide variety of people (both internal and external to the organization) in an effective manner.
  • Must be team-oriented with an ability to effectively manage both organizational and matrix team structures.
  • Detailed oriented, self-motivated, willing and able to meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and solve problems.
  • Approaches problem solving in a logical, deductive thinking process to find solutions.
  • Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies and encourage innovative thought in others.
  • Desire to maintain and expand technical and professional knowledge.
